BSc Landscape Design and Management
Rick’s career in horticulture has flourished since he became an undergraduate of University Centre Reaseheath.
Although he already had his own successful landscape maintenance business he felt he wanted to learn more and tried an evening garden design course. He enjoyed the subject and the experience so much that he enrolled on our Foundation Degree in Garden and Landscape Design, during which he helped to design and build our award winning show garden at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park.
Not content to rest on his laurels, he completed a further year of studies with us to achieve his BSc in Landscape Design and Management and then moved to Manchester Metropolitan University to study for a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture.
He is now a Senior Landscape Manager with The Environment Partnership, a multi disciplinary environmental consultancy in Warrington, and a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute. Rick completed work experience with the company as part of his Master’s degree and was offered a full time job as soon as he graduated.
The horticulture industry is incredibly varied and I collaborate with many different environmental disciplines. My job is very interesting as I work with corporate clients, large developers and government departments. I spend around half of my time at my desk, preparing reports, and the remainder I’m on-site or at meetings.
