Projects, research and innovation at Reaseheath College and University Centre focusses on supporting agriculture, farming, food and drink and the rural economy to thrive, be more sustainable and resilient, and contribute to environmental improvement. The practice and results from the projects we manage are closely aligned to the education and learning of our students and help ensure they have industrially and commercially relevant skills and experience ready for the 21st century.

Reaseheath has developed local, national and international partnerships with businesses, academic and industrial partners and is a recognized centre for applied research and innovation. Reaseheath is a natural partner for demonstration, testing, trialling, and validation of technologies, products, processes and systems in real-world situations.

We have some excellent facilities; our farm houses a 200-head dairy cows and followers, a beef unit, 600 ewe sheep flock, and has 620 acres of land for permanent pasture and a variety of arable crops. Our state-of-the-art glass house has fully automated hydroponics, LED lighting and environmental controls, and we are developing a vertical farming facility. The Reaseheath Food Centre is BRC AA accredited and develops and tests new food products, especially in dairy and bakery, and plant-based alternatives to meat.

Projects, research and innovation at Reaseheath is aligned with the economic development goals, policies and drivers of the Cheshire & Warrington LEP, DEFRA’s 25 Year Environment Plan, and the Government’s Clean Growth and Bioeconomy strategies.
