Balazs Szalisznyo
Foundation Degree in Dairy Technology (Eden programme)
As a student on our Eden programme, Balazs used the knowledge he gained from his degree to make a considerable impact in his workplace.
At the time a Continuous Improvement Facilitator with Muller Milk and Ingredients, Balazs came up with suggestions to make milk pasteurisation more efficient. His employers were so impressed with his recommendations that they immediately implemented them on site.
The Eden programme is an education initiative, supported by leading Dairy companies, which enables talented employees to study part-time at degree level at our Food Centre. The course runs on a block release basis and undergraduates return to their workplace to apply their new skills. They graduate with a Foundation Degree in Dairy Technology.
Balazs began his career in the dairy sector with Muller (then Robert Wiseman). He took a job in logistics, then moved to the quality department as a laboratory analyst before becoming the site’s lean facilitator. He graduated from our Eden programme with a distinction and Dean’s List of Academic Excellence in 2016 and has continued to progress in his career. He is now one of Reaseheath’s Food Industry Trainers, helping industry leading dairy companies to upskill their staff.
Studying on the Eden programme was really useful. I gained a lot of first hand knowledge from using the machinery and equipment in Reaseheath’s food production halls. They are all up to industry standard so I could easily transfer the knowledge I’d gained to my workplace.
The coaching and technical support I received was fantastic, particularly as the technicians have all worked in industry. I also made some good friends during the course and hope to stay in touch for many years to come.
