Kay completed her BA in Social Studies and Education and her Advanced Diploma in Special Needs in Education with Open University, and also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in SpLD completed with Edge Hill University. Kay also holds Associate Membership of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA).
Kay has 10 years experience working with students with a range of Specific Learning Difficulties and has worked for the past 8 years in the HE sector as a Specialist (SpLD) 1:1 Study Skills Tutor & Mentor and is a fully qualified ASC Mentor
Kay works with learners with a range of needs from Dyslexia, Visual Impaired and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), working in partnership with the student and curriculum and developing clear study skills strategies.
Kay enjoys swimming and socialising in her spare time.
Alice completed LLB (Hons) Law & Criminology at University of Chester. Alice then went on to study the Legal Practice Course and a Masters in Law at the University of Law. After graduating from the University of Law, Alice worked in the legal profession for a short while, before moving into education. Alice joined University Centre Reaseheath in 2019 as a Study Mentor and has since provided 1:1 support to a wide range of students. In 2020, Alice took on the additional role of Administrator.
Alice works with learners with a range of needs from Dyslexia, Visual Impaired and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), working in partnership with the student and curriculum and developing clear study skills strategies.
Karen completed her BA (Hons) Youth and Childhood Studies at The Open University, and PGCert in Dyslexia Studies at University of Birmingham.
Karen has a variety of other training including NCFE level 2 Certificate in Understanding Autism, Listening and Counselling Skills (Staffordshire University), ULA Mentoring and Coaching (Staffordshire University), Understanding Autism (National Autistic Society). Karen also holds Approved Teacher Status (ATS) and Professional Membership of the Association of Dyslexia specialists in Higher Education. Karen has over 20 years experience working in Higher Education initially as a mentor then as a specialist Tutor and ASD mentor for the past 12 years. Karen has worked with a range of students with SPLD, Autism and Mental health issues in several different universities.
Karen works with learners with a range of needs from Dyslexia, Visual Impaired and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), working in partnership with the student and curriculum and developing clear study skills strategies.
Karen enjoys Yoga, Cycling and travelling.
Pat completed her HND Consumer Studies at Sheffield Hallam University, Award in Education & Training with City & Guilds and her Postgraduate Award of Proficiency in Assessment for Access Arrangements (PAPAA) with Include-ed. Pat has 26 years of experience of working in education in a variety of roles, from Key Stage 3 to Higher Education; including teaching and supporting students with a wide range of learning difficulties and backgrounds in various subjects.
Pat provides 1 : 1 study mentoring, supporting a wide variety of students.
Pat enjoys travelling and loves visiting places of geographical and historical interest; plus swimming, gardening & walking in the countryside
Simon has experience teaching Art, Graphic Design, Sound Engineering & Photography amongst other media based subjects. In his spare time, Simon also worked as a Sound Engineer (live & studio) and Stage Rigger. Simon then moved into IT support, working in a variety of roles for 23 years. Simon is a member of the National Association of Disability Practitioners.
Simon provides administrative support to UCR’s Inclusive Learning Team.
Simon enjoys walking & running with his dogs, mountain biking and generally taking in what the outdoors has to offer. Simon also enjoys the occasional bit of baking and has been known to knock up a killer cheese scone & chocolate cake (not necessarily at the same time!). Simon also loves a good book.
