management skills. This will be underpinned by indepth technical and scientific training.
We’re a leading university in the integration of LEAN management across all of our teaching. You’ll learn how to utilise data to create a culture of continuous improvement and how to apply this to your industry and farming business.
You will cover a wide range of farming practices to embed an understanding of the ethical, economic and social influences that affect consumer markets, rural communities and business management.
If you are already working in the industry, our flexible approach to learning means that you can continue to earn as you learn as your modules will be delivered over just 2 days a week, including a work placement*.

Our expert staff talk your language and are well-equipped to pass on their knowledge helping you to bring new, innovative ideas into the farming industry. They recently completed a research-led study tour to Denmark to monitor LEAN practices in industry which are now applied across all of our degree programmes.
Our strong links with industry opens up opportunities for experiential learning with market-leading companies such as Velcourt, Dale Farm and Grosvenor Farms.
We’re also engaged in commercial trials with industry bodies such as AHDB and various machinery manufacturers. Access to a wide range of employers – both outside and in the workplace – can open the door to employment opportunities.
You can develop your skills in novel and sometimes challenging settings by joining the domestic and international study tours* we offer. We’ll also encourage you to explore new horizons through scholarships such as our own John Platt Travel Scholarship. The scholarship allows recipients to bring back applicable research ideas for further study. In previous years, recipients have used it to look at agricultural industries as diverse as on-farm education for the public in New Zealand, cattle biosecurity in Australia and glyphosate use in Brazil.
