All items of clothing worn on the yard must be plain navy blue or black only (breeches/jodhpurs, polo shirts, gilets, jackets, sweatshirts). Reaseheath uniform items with the college logo embroidered are available to purchase from the online store if preferred.
Optional items include gilets, jackets and rugby shirts. Students are encouraged to purchase the following items before induction.
- Black cord trousers may be worn for practical stable management sessions
- All tops must have a collar (polo shirts, polo necks, rugby shirts)
- Clean, waterproof full chaps/over trousers may be worn during bad weather
- Riding hat (dark silks only) must conform to BHS standards: PAS 015 98/2011 Kitemark and/or IC Mark; ASTM F1163 SI. Hair must be tied back at all times when on the yard and in a hair net when wearing your riding hat
- Gloves will be required for practical sessions involving horse handling
- Wellies and country boots are permitted for yard work only
- Wellies and muck boots may not be worn for taught practical sessions. You must wear rubber/leather riding boots or jodhpur boots (with leather gaiters) for taught stable management practical sessions
You are permitted to wear navy blue overalls over your clothing whilst on the yard as an alternative to purchasing specific items of clothing. However, students wearing overalls are still required to wear appropriate footwear whilst on the yard as detailed above.
Dress code for all riding sessions:
- Riding hat (dark silks only) must conform to BHS standards: PAS 015 98/2011 Kitemark and/or IC Mark; ASTM F1163 SI. Hair must be tied back at all times when on the yard and in a hair net when wearing your riding hat
- Navy blue/black jodhpurs (not denim or patterned)
- Clean black or brown riding or jodhpur boots & leather gaiters/leather half chaps (no suede half chaps)
- Gloves must be worn during riding or groundwork sessions (navy or black)
- Riding whip should be suitable for both flatwork and jumping
- Body protector to conform to current safety standards for jumping and/or riding in the open; the use of air vests is not permitted
We recommend buying a USB memory stick, although you can save documents to the UCR OneDrive, as it makes it easier for group work and presentations.
