Biochar Feeding Trials
The Centre for Research in Environmental Science and Technology (CREST), is based at University Centre Shrewsbury. Through CREST, Reaseheath runs projects such as the development of bioreactors to reduce diffuse pollution, optimising the storage and use of ensiled materials, exploiting bracken as a bioresource, and evaluating straw pellets for equine bedding.

Reaseheath Biohub and AD Centre
Our work is supporting the development of the bioeconomy in the region with bio-based, sustainable and renewable resources. Activities include creating new value chains from agricultural and food wastes, to produce fibres, packaging, intermediaries, proteins and nutrients.
The Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plant processes animal slurry and horticultural wastes to produce biogas and digestate, tests and trials additives, and optimises and controls AD operations.

Water Quality and Management
Many rivers, streams, lakes and ponds do not meet the objectives set out under the Water Framework Directive. We are implementing solutions that reduce phosphates, nitrates and sediment from agricultural operations and improve habitat and biodiversity.
Natural flood management (NFM) can offer lower cost solutions that reduce flood risk and impacts. Our work deploying and monitoring solutions is helping agriculture, communities and businesses to be more resilient to climate change and extreme weather events.
