Jess Palin
Foundation Degree Business and Events Management
Jess has found doors have opened for her since she began studying for her degree in event management.
Taking full advantage of the flexibility of our degree programme, she joined the conference and events team at the Alton Towers Resort while studying and was offered a full-time position as soon as she graduated.
Now a busy conference and events host, she helps to set up and run events lasting from two hours to two weeks and for up to 1000 guests in the world famous theme park. One of a team of 30 professionals involved in running events at the Alton Towers Resort, she is also planning her next career move into management.
Jess originally studied technical theatre and worked in the industry for a few years before deciding to change track. As a scout leader she’d helped to plan a lot of activities for her group and district where she decided that event management was an area which would offer a challenging and interesting career.
She chose to study at University Centre Reaseheath because she could continue to live at home and work alongside her studies. The result was less debt on graduation and relevant on-job experience which led to further opportunities.
My degree proves to employers that I’m serious about a career in my chosen field. I’ve furthered my qualifications and gained a broader knowledge of how the industry works, particularly the finance and business side. The lecturers at Reaseheath are really knowledgeable and are always there to help you.
