BSc (Hons) in Landscape Architecture
I’ve had so many unique opportunities during my degree which I don’t think I’d have had anywhere else other than at Reaseheath.
As part of my studies I’ve helped to design and build two award winning show gardens for the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park. It’s the hands-on experience which stands out for me, such as working with a real client to a brief and having to think through and refine your landscape skills. You can’t learn that in a class room!
I also worked as a technician in the college’s glasshouses and later as a glasshouse and grounds supervisor so I’ve gained practical and managerial experience in addition to my academic qualification.
I’m hoping for a career in land management and conservation within a National Park. It would be a great way to use the landscape and conservation techniques I’ve learned.
The highlight of this course, for me, is its diversity. I researched and wrote my final dissertation on the impact that visitor management has had on the populations of peregrine falcons in the Peak District national park, and how this could be improved in the future.
I think it’s essential that we continue to manage our open spaces for both people and wildlife.”
