BSc (Hons) Applied Plant Science and Production Technology
Passionate about plants, Hannah decided to specialise in horticultural production after realising what a range of rewarding careers are on offer.
Inspired by our investment into cutting edge horticultural technology, she has taken every opportunity to gain scientific and research skills in our industry standard glasshouses and laboratories. She has also gained essential work experience with Fryer’s Roses, with whom she gained a part-time job, and with world renowned rose breeder David Austin Roses.
Hannah displayed her scientific poster comparing the carbon footprint of Kenya’s rose growing industry to UK production at RHS Flower Show Tatton Park and has continued to research the sustainable growing of ornamental plants as part of her degree.
She is exploring ways of improving the breeding process of roses for her final dissertation and hopes to take this research further.
I’m very excited about my future. Horticultural production offers so many opportunities. This degree is well balanced. It prepares you to go further into academia but it’s equally applicable if you want to enter the business side of the industry.
