Foundation Degree in Adventure Sports and Coaching
Passionate about outdoor adventure, Callum views his next challenge as how best to introduce others to the sports which so inspire him.
Our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Adventure Sports Student of the Year in 2016, he progressed seamlessly onto our Foundation Degree and is now part-way through his BA in Outdoor Education at another institution. Each step fuels his interest, increases his skills and takes him a step nearer his goal – to become a highly qualified outdoor instructor.
Callum says the highlights of his foundation degree were the weekly practical sessions ranging from rock climbing to kayaking. These allowed him to put the theory he’d learned into practice and gave him the essential experience to meet industry demands.
Ample time for 1:1 sessions with Reaseheath specialists gave him the opportunity to gain his Rock Climbing Instructor qualification and he is using scientific skills gained in our sophisticated sports science laboratory for his BA dissertation.
A student ambassador during his time with us, Callum recalls his favourite undergrad memory is one of standing waist deep in snow in the Cairngorms mountains with the biggest smile!
My advice to anyone thinking of becoming an adventure sports undergraduate at Reaseheath is ‘Just go for it. You won’t regret it.’ The amount of practical teaching is unparalleled to any other university and the facilities on and around campus are amazing.
